Executive Director Announcement: Welcome Karen Molinari!

Dear JW House Community,

I’m excited to share an important moment in the story of JW House: we are welcoming Karen Molinari as our new Executive Director.

Karen officially joined JW House this week, and I could not be more excited for our community to get to know her.

Karen is a fourth-generation Bay Area native who returned to the area 25 years ago with her husband to raise their family. Her career has centered on public service, community engagement, and bringing people together around a shared purpose. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Healthy Cities Tutoring, where she worked alongside staff, volunteers, community partners, and families to support local students.

What drew Karen to JW House, however, goes well beyond her professional experience. The mission of Keeping Families Together During Medical Crisis is deeply personal to her. She has experienced extended hospital stays with both of her children and parents, including a time when her family was temporarily relocated out of state, while one of her children received critical medical care. She has also supported her mother through cancer treatment.

Through those experiences, Karen has seen firsthand how a medical crisis can turn a family’s world upside down, and how meaningful a warm meal, a comfortable place to stay, a caring smile, or simply knowing that someone is there can be.

That understanding is one of the many reasons I believe Karen is such a wonderful fit for JW House.

In getting to know her, it is clear that Karen is a relationship-centered leader. Her first priority is to listen and learn, spending time with our families, volunteers, staff, Board, hospital partners, and community supporters who understand what makes JW House special.

She also sees tremendous opportunity ahead: strengthening our community partnerships, expanding awareness of our mission, growing our fundraising and volunteer communities, and working with the Board and broader JW House family to develop a strategic vision for the years ahead.

Perhaps most importantly, Karen understands something fundamental about JW House: it is a home. As we grow, she is committed to preserving the spirit of care, hospitality, and personal connection that has defined JW House from the beginning.

Karen shared this with me as she begins this new chapter:

“Thank you for trusting me with something you’ve clearly poured your hearts into. I don’t take that lightly. I’m here to listen first, and to lead in a way that honors everything this community has already built. I’m genuinely excited to get to know each of you and to build the next chapter of this organization together.”

A Heartfelt Thank You to Sheoran:

As we welcome Karen, we also want to take a moment to recognize Sheoran Bhupendra, whose tenure as our Interim Executive Director has now come to a close.

Sheoran stepped into this role during a period of transition and provided JW House with stability, care, and thoughtful leadership. Under his guidance, our staff remained supported, our mission remained at the center of our work, and JW House continued to be a place of hope, hospitality, and healing for families facing medical crises.

When asked what he would remember most about his time at JW House, Sheoran spoke not of one particular moment, but of the many quiet acts of care that happen here every day: the staff members and volunteers who anticipate what a family needs, the warm welcome, the meal, the conversation, and the countless small gestures that create a sense of home during an incredibly difficult time.

That is exactly what Sheoran helped protect during this transition, and we are deeply grateful.

Sheoran leaves his interim role with confidence in JW House and in Karen’s leadership.

In his words:

“I hope the entire community will welcome Karen, share its knowledge and aspirations with her, and support her as she leads JW House into its next chapter.”

Sheoran, thank you for your service, your leadership, and your commitment to JW House. We are grateful for the care you brought to this organization and for the strong foundation you helped maintain during this important period of transition.

Looking Ahead:

Leadership transitions are important moments for any organization, but at JW House, they are also an opportunity to reflect on what makes this community so special—and to look forward to what comes next.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I invite all of you to join me in welcoming Karen to JW House. Please introduce yourself when you see her, share your JW House story, and help her get to know the remarkable community she is now a part of.

And please join us in thanking Sheoran for all he has done during his time with JW House.

We are incredibly grateful for the people who have helped build JW House, those who have cared for it through times of transition, and those who will help lead it into the future.

I’m excited about this next chapter—and I hope you are, too.

With gratitude,

Tom Bondi
President, Board of Directors
